Elmer Edward Davis, (Buddy), 91, of Panama City, Florida, husband of Eleanor Jane Davis, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was Catholic by faith , Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Elmer was born December 19, 1933, in Siasconset, Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. He was the son of Elmer Sherman Davis of Nantucket Island, MA and Theresa King Davis of County Galway, Ireland. He loved his childhood on Nantucket and enjoyed fishing, scalloping and carpentry.

He joined the US Air Force and retired as a Chief Master Sargent (CMSGT.) He was a veteran of the Vietnam War , he served in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) organization in Korea, and Vietnam with the US Air Force 1st Air Commando Special Forces and US Army Special Forces. He continued his EOD career stateside. He maintained several designations such as Expert Marksman and Bomb. He was awarded many medals throughout his career including the Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, with Silver Star, Air Force Good Conduct Award for every year of his service, Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Expeditionary Award, Master Explosive Ordnance Badge, Senior Missileman Badge, Small Arms Expert, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with Campaign Bronze Star and Longevity of Service. He was a member of Master Blasters, an organization for retired EOD professionals.

Buddy spent most of his adult life in Panama City, Florida. After his military retirement, he worked for Stock Equipment as the Plant Manager until his retirement. He shared his love of the ocean with his family and enjoyed fishing, scalloping, and water skiing. He loved golf and enjoyed playing with his wife Eleanor, family and friends. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as several other community organizations including the Chamber of Commerce. He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Callaway, Florida.

Buddy spent his summers at the family home in Osterville, MA with his family enjoying boating, clamming, fishing , quahoging, gardening, hunting and golf. He was a member of the Osterville Veterans Association. He loved to sing and dance and was known for his baritone voice.

In addition to his wife Eleanor, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Beeson of Charleston SC, her husband Scott Beeson,; his son, Derek S Davis of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, his wife, Leesa Davis and grandchildren Isabel Beeson, Davis Beeson, Parker Beeson, Liam Davis and Aidan Davis. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Duarte of Tucson, Arizona, Shirley Novak of Methuen, Massachusetts, Joan McDonald of Fairhaven, Massachusetts; Robert Davis of Nantucket, Massachusetts and Edward Davis of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

A celebration of life will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Osterville, MA, in the family cemetery on July 18, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to the Wounded Warriors project, Disabled American Veterans or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
