Ellen Cercopely Meyer, 79, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Julian Irvin Meyer died Friday, August 19, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service in the North Area Chapel.
Ellen was born March 21, 1937 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Eugene Franklin Cercopely Sr. and Gertrude St. Julian Buckheister Cercopely. She was a graduate of Chicora High School. Ellen worked at the Naval Shipyard as a clerk stenographer and after 37 years of service she retired as an Assistant Security Officer. She enjoyed traveling, especially time spent in the mountains and going on cruises. She was also an avid pool player.
Ellen and Irvin shared 23 years of companionship and were happily married for three years.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband; two daughters: Mindy Mappus (Glenn) of Ridgeville, SC and Missy Wolfe of Summerville, SC; son, Donnie Mauchline of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren: Mandy Howlett (Jason), Glenn Mappus, Jr., Dee Wilson (Beth), Kelly Hill (Chris), Rachel Wolfe; nine great-grandsons; and two brothers, Genie Cercopely (Shirley) of Charleston, SC and Dee Cercopely (Janet) of Summerton, SC.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Mauchline.
