Elizabeth Venning Yon, 99 of Charleston, South Carolina, peacefully entered the Presence of her Heavenly Father on January 30, 2023 surrounded by family who loved her dearly. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc, West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 11:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 12:00 Noon followed by burial at Bethany Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born in Charleston, SC, August 6, 1923, daughter of the late Ashley and Leila Venning. Elizabeth (Betty) retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard after a long and successful career. After retirement, she worked part-time at Chick-fil-A. She lived an active lifestyle in her community and Church. Elizabeth won the Wii Bowling State Championship for the Presbyterian Home 3 years in a row while in her 90’s. She was a graduate of Murray High School, Charleston, SC.

She is survived by her 4 children, Carol Thompson Wood (Marvin), Janice Thompson Moniz Daniel (Andy), Al Thompson, Jr. (Ginny), and Gayle Thompson Hall (Kent); 9 grandchildren, Amy Berrens, Cheree’ Negreiros, Joshua Wood, Brian Moniz, Lauren Moniz, Philip Moniz, Christina Burn, Ashley Thompson, and Trey Thompson; 16 great grandchildren and her sister, Shirley Kruger. She was preceded in death by her husband Colonel Edison Yon (Ret), her parents Ashley Hampton Venning and Leila Aimar Atkinson Venning and her brother Carlton Venning.
