Elizabeth Simonton Williams, age 100, of Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Ellison A. Williams and Elizabeth Dillingham Williams, died peacefully on June 22, 2017, at her residence, the Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Libby was predeceased by her twin sister Margaret Adger Williams and is survived by her brother George Walton Williams, his wife Harriet Porcher (Simons) Williams, their three children and two grandchildren. A native Charlestonian, Libby attended Ashley Hall School and graduated from Mount Holyoke College. After attending the Katherine Gibbes Secretarial School, she was employed by the Medical College of South Carolina for thirty-five years until her retirement in 1982. Libby and Margaret enjoyed traveling abroad, mostly in England. They also made a number of bicycle trips in France and visits to the U.S. National Parks. Libby was a long-time member of St. Michael's Church where she sang in the choir for many years.
Her funeral service will be held Monday July 10, 2017 in St. Michael's Church, 71 Broad Street at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
