Elizabeth Amelia Welch

Elizabeth Amelia Welch, affectionately known as "Mema," 96, wife of the late Herbert Eugene Welch, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011.  The relatives and friends of Elizabeth Welch are invited to attend a "Celebration of Her Life" at Bethel United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 12:45 p.m.  A reception will follow the service.  A private entombment service will be held at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.   ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.  She was born July 3, 1914 in Summerville, SC, daughter of the late Alfred Mead Masterman and Mary Elize Avinger.  Mrs. Welch retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and Roper Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Taylor and her husband, Jim, and Sandra Cooke and her husband, John, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Sandy Mitchum and her husband, Bubba, Cindy Reeves and Jessen Cooke and his wife, Bonnie; six great-grandchildren, Trasen and Harlie Grace Cooke, Sasha Reeves, Amanda , Lindsay, and Reese Mitchum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
