Elizabeth Eugenie (Genie) Holcombe Rothman

Elizabeth Eugenie "Genie" Holcombe Rothman, 68, of McClellanville, South Carolina and Delray Beach, Florida entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 19, 2020.

Genie was born November 10, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Edwin Franklin Holcombe, Sr. and Leila Ursula Morrison Holcombe. She was a graduate of Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant and enlisted in the army and obtained the rank of Specialist in US Army Intelligence. Following her military duty, Genie attended the University of South Florida on the GI Bill and Stetson Law School. She was a former prosecutor and served in private practice for over 30 years. Her family was not surprised when Genie became an attorney because she had been practicing her debating skills with them her entire life. Genie was a longtime member of Journey Church in Boca Raton.

Genie is survived by her daughter and the light of her life, Eugenie "Jennie" Mackintosh Rothman; two brothers, Edwin Franklin Holcombe, Jr. (Valerie) of Hendersonville, NC; John Morrison Holcombe (Lori) of Fort Mill, SC; and former husband and Jennie's father, Howard Rothman. Genie had a love for all animals and her dog Slander and six Siamese cats will miss her dearly.

Her graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in New Wappetaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Old Cemetery Road, McClellanville, SC at 1:00 PM. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.
