Elizabeth "Libby" Stello Robertson, 99, of James Island, SC, wife of the late Walter D. Robertson, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 23, 2021, at her home with family by her side. Her graveside service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, at 11:00 am. Masks and social distancing are required. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Libby was born July 23, 1922, daughter of the late Walter H. Stello and the late Betty Stack Stello. Libby was a true Charlestonian raised in downtown Charleston on Huger Street and graduated from Murray Vocational School. She married the love of her life, Walter Robertson, in 1941 and became an amazing mother to their three girls.
She and Walt spent many wonderful years at their waterfront home on James Island where boating, crabbing, and water activities filled the days while also retreating to their second home in the North Carolina mountains. Libby was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was affectionately nicknamed "fun girl" by her grandsons which was a title she held to the end. You could always find her in her yard watering her flowers or chasing the errant weed that might have escaped her notice. Libby was also a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith A. Robertson and Susan Gregg (David), both of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren, Cameron Nistad (Gunnar), Kevan Gregg, Meredith Boyd (Andrew) and Daniel Robertson (Erin); seven great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Audrey S. Isaacson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 61 years, and her parents, Libby is preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Robertson Margiotta; her grandson, Walter S. Spalviero; her brothers, Walter H. Stello, Jr. and Elbert Stello.
A heartfelt thanks to mom's wonderful caretakers: Nancy Appelt, Sheila Gaines, Vanessa Middleton, and Mary West. We are forever grateful for your loving care and companionship.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
