Liz was born Jan 8, 1942 to Elmore and Florence Barrineau. She attended Chicora High School where she was a cheerleader, a member of the National Honor Society, and the Girl's Basketball team. She left high school in 1959 to marry William C Floyd III. Liz and Willie gave this world three beautiful children, Ali, Will and Todd. After building their dream home in Cainhoy Village, Willie became ill and died in March 2000. She married Richard M. "Buck" Buchanan in 2002. She retired from the SC State Unemployment office in 2007, but Liz had worked many years in the Charleston County School District's Administrative offices prior to that. Liz was a past president of Alice Birney Elementary PTA, toured special needs children at Gibbs Art Gallery and worked with DSS HALOS program. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, participated in mission activities and trips and was a member of the Weekly Prayer Circle. Her Cream-Style Corn Pudding was a staple at Wednesday Night Church, and at Sunday School she was known to look a doubter in the eye and firmly state, "I know Christ died for my sins, and I am going to Heaven".

Liz is survived by her husband, Richard M "Buck" Buchanan, daughter, Alison Mappus (John), Will Floyd, Todd Floyd (Heidi) , stepdaughters Debbie Hurst (DeWitt), of Rock Hill, Karen Walls (Troy), of Independence, MO.
