Elizabeth Claire Mcgarry Fitzgerald

Elizabeth "Betty" Claire McGarry Fitzgerald, 87, wife of the late Richard Charles Fitzgerald of Isle of Palms, SC passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011.  The relatives and friends of Elizabeth "Betty" Fitzgerald are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 13, 2011 in Stella Maris Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m.  Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The Eulogy and Rosary will be held during the visitation.

 Mrs. Fitzgerald was born on December 25, 1923 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, daughter of the late John Patrick McGarry and Anna Loretta Quinn McGarry.  She was a past coordinator for the Isle of Palms Keenagers Club and a volunteer with the Charleston Animal Society as well as a member of the Busi Buddies.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jeanne Ann Funke and her husband, Henry, of Fernandina Beach, FL,  Judi Fitzgerald Hunt and her husband, Chad, of Matthews, NC and Kathleen Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren, Matthew Funke, Kristen Funke, Quinn DiCarlo and Adam DiCarlo and seven great grandchildren, Gabrielle Funke, Adian Fitzpatrick, Trevian Fitzpatrick, Anastasia Funke, Xavier Funke, Tosh Stewart-DiCarlo and Isadore DiCarlo as well as her beloved and faithful dog Paddington.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made Hospice of Charleston, Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC  29464 or the Charleston Animal Society 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC  29406.
