Elizabeth Ann Jacobs Buxton, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, died Monday, July 31, 2017. The Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 4, 2017 in The Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2017 in The Church of the Holy Communion from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Elizabeth was born September 3, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Howard Rivers Jacobs, Sr. and Pauline Risher Jacobs. She was a graduate of Ashley Hall, the College of Charleston and the Medical College of Charleston (MUSC). Elizabeth was a registered MT with the American Association of Clinical Pathologists. She served as the former volunteer director of Christian Education at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and was an active volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels and the Hunley Museum. Much of Elizabeth's life was spent as a devoted and full time mother.
Elizabeth is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Buxton Covington (Sam) of Charleston, SC, Paula Buxton Smith (Don) of Atlanta, GA and Sarah Risher Ingram Buxton of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother, Howard Rivers Jacobs, Jr. of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren: Sam Covington, Jr. (Kristen), Sarah Covington, Laurah Covington, Harrison Covington, Thomas Covington, Maggie Smith and Anna Smith; and two great-grandchildren: Ivor Covington and Juno Covington. Additional family members include a niece and two nephews.
