Elizabeth Gatch Blitch, 99, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widow of John Hethington Blitch entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 1, 2018. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 in St. Johns Parish Church, Johns Island at 2:00 p.m. Interment, churchyard. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. Elizabeth was born July 23, 1918 in Round O, South Carolina, daughter of the late David T. Gatch and Daisy Ackerman Gatch. She graduated from University of South Carolina School of Nursing and was a Retired Registered Nurse with Roper Hospital. She was a member of St. Johns Parish Church, where she was a member of Daughters of the King. Elizabeth was a member of the Pilot Club of Charleston, where she was the former Pilot of the Year. She was a recipient of the Mildred Henry Davenport Award. She was entered into the Charleston Federation of Women's Club Hall of Fame.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, John H. Blitch, Jr. (Darlene) of Johns Island, SC; three daughters: Diana B. Dorn of Rockville, SC, Judith B. Martin of Johns Island, SC, and Sandra B. Davison (Sonny, deceased) of Clover, SC; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Gatch.
