Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 19, 2012, Elizabeth "Bitsy" Cole Andrews of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Monday, April 23, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Interment, Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Churchyard. The family will receive friends Sunday at 7 Rutledge Avenue between 5 and 7 p.m.
Bitsy was born September 1, 1946, in Charleston, SC, the beloved daughter of Roy Francois Cole and Elizabeth Fletcher Cole. She attended St. Margaret's School in Shropshire, England and was a graduate of The High School of Charleston. She was a history major at the University of South Carolina. Bitsy had a lifelong love of music, poetry, history and a passion for the City of Charleston. She was a kind and generous friend to all who knew her well. Formerly a historical researcher, she was known for her enthusiasm and vast knowledge, serving as a City of Charleston tour guide for more than 35 years. She was a devoted employee of Gray Line of Charleston since 1981. Bitsy was also a partner in an antiques repair and restoration business, The Gilded Cherubim. Bitsy was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by one daughter: Mary Elizabeth "MEB" Andrews Shue (Patrick) of Charleston, SC; two grandsons: Noah and Patrick; two brothers: Roy F. Cole, Jr. (Patty) of Charleston, SC and Furman F. Cole (Martha) of Charleston, SC; and four nieces.
