Elise Virginia Owens Hutson, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Frank Ellis Hutson, Sr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 2, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Elise was born January 22, 1924 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Nealie F. Owens and Mattie Young Owens. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. First and foremost, she loved the Lord and along with her husband they established many of the Church of God of Prophecy churches in the Charleston, John's Island, Goose Creek, and Summerville areas. After her children were grown, she volunteered at the local hospitals greeting people as they came to see their loved ones. She was an awesome cook and loved cooking for big crowds. She loved tending to her flower gardens at her home in West Ashley and often was the recipient of the "Yard of the Month". She found great joy in spending time with and hearing from her many grandchildren. She had a special fondness for babies and loved holding and kissing on them.
She is survived by her five sons, Walter M. Hutson (Jane) of Moncks Corner, SC, Robert O. Hutson (Dianne) of James Island, SC, James O. Hutson (Sandra) of Moncks Corner, SC, Milton S. Hutson of Charleston, SC, and Don A. Hutson (Lisa) of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Diane B. Bunch (Edward) of Walterboro, SC, Miriam E. Missel (Walter) of Summerville, SC; two step-brothers, Harold Owens, and David Owens both of Johns Island, SC; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
Elise was preceded in death by her beloved husband Reverend Frank Hutson, Sr. her beloved eldest son Frank Hutson, Jr ( Marlene); her sisters, Ginny Walker and Gladys Marshall, and her brother, John Owens.
Flowers will be accepted and/or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
