Elise Courtonne Marshall "Coty" Guerry

Elise Courtonne Marshall "Coty" Guerry, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of William LeGrand Guerry died Saturday, March 3, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. Andrews Church Mt. Pleasant Ministry Center at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
"Coty" was born June 22, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late T. Keith Marshall and the Catherine Buck Marshall. She started volunteering at the age of 12, cutting and rolling bandages for the Red Cross. She went on to graduate from Memminger High School and attend the College of Charleston. Throughout the years, she volunteered at the Speech and Hearing Clinic, served on the Board of My Sister's House, and was a member of the French Huguenot Society. She also volunteered at the MUSC Children's Hospital, and worked as a Cub Scout assistant and Girl Scout Leader. She was a charter member of the Junior League of Charleston. Coty was very close to her beloved church - St. Andrews Mount Pleasant Anglican, where she taught Sunday School and served on the Foreign Missions Committee. She served on the Board of Kanuga Camp and Conference Center, and enjoyed many years of service in the Lay Eucharistic Ministry of St. Andrews. She was also active in the Cursillo Movement, serving on the Secretariat. She loved her Bible studies with the "Salty Sisters" and felt very close to all her bridge buddies and close church friends - her Christian sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, LeGrand; her children, William L. "Gil" Guerry, Jr. (Patricia), Lisa Guerry McCaskill (Travis), Keith M. Guerry, Carol Guerry Pierce, Joseph H. "Jody" Guerry (Catherine) and C. Buck Guerry (Sunday); 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Todd Guerry.
