Elijah "Frank" Francis Aydlett, 87, Jr., of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Shirley Dunlap Aydlett entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 19, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 23, 2015, in The Church of The Good Shepherd, 1393 Miles Drive at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 22, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR INC, WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Frank was born July 30, 1928 in Duck, NC, son of the late Elijah Francis Aydlett and Lorena Olds Aydlett. He was a US Army decorated Korean Veteran and a recipient of a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired as an electrical lineman with the Charleston Air Force Base. He was a former member of The Charleston Elks Lodge and member of The Church of The Good Shepherd.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Aydlett; daughter, Nancy A. Mallard (Ernie); two sons, Frank Gary Aydlett (Rhonda), and Andrew Todd. Aydlett, all of Charleston, SC; four sisters, Katherine A. Johnson of FL, Mildred A. Mercer, Jean A. Tarkington, and Carolyn A. Simpson, all of NC; four brothers, William "Billy" Aydlett of Charleston, SC, John "Jay" Aydlett of GA, Ray Aydlett of Charleston, SC, and Christopher Aydlett of NC; five grandchildren, Benjamin Aydlett, Lindsay McLeod, Jess McDonald, Jennifer M. Werts, and Rachel Mallard; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Zion, Colton and Brayden.
