Elease Shannon Moore, 89, returned to her heavenly home on September 8, 2016. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace during the last moments of her life.
Elease was born to the late Mitch Shannon and Ellen Shields-Shannon. Much of her adult life she served her community in such capacities as; former First Lady and Deaconess of Majority Baptist Church in Florence, SC, serving as Board of Trustee member to New Life Assembly of God in Florence, SC, as well as former First Lady and Assistant-Pastor of Wayland Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. In addition to her outstanding community involvement, much of her life she was self-employed doing what she enjoyed the most, working as a cosmetologist.
She retired prematurely to serve as the primary caretaker for her husband, the late Elmer B. Moore. During this time, she dedicated much of her life to caring for her grandchildren and children, as well as leading prayer groups at our local nursing homes. Elease was blessed with a large and loving family.
She married her best friend, the late Elmer B. Moore, on April 23, 1979 in Emporia, VA. Elease raised her four children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged us to explore the beauty and power of knowing Christ as their Savior.
Elease is survived by; her sons Barry (Anita) Moore, and Eddie Moore; her daughters Victoria (Steve) Sammis and Rhapsody Moore; her grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Aaliyah Moore, Breighon (Zoe) Moore, Taylor Moore, Tyler Moore, Breseis Ailanni; Tybreisha Johnson, and Anthony (AJ) McCoy; and her great grand-daughter Thaliah (Salsi) Johnson; and her remaining siblings Carrie Williams, Louise McLamb and Paul (Busta) Shannon.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Eva Shannon, Arnetha Rountree, Mary Ramseur, Grace McClendon, and Joseph Shannon; her parents; and her late husband, Elmer B. Moore.
When Elease loved someone she loved them with all her heart. She was kind and firm, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.
