Eleanor Louise Woods, 81, of Summerville, SC, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 2, 2013 after a prolonged illness. A funeral service was held Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the J. Henry Stuhr North Area Chapel located at 2119 Dorchester Road. The Funeral Service was officiated by Rev. G.L. Brown, pastor of Hanahan Baptist Church, with eulogy by Jamie Woods, grandson, and special assistance from Rev. Dave Harrison, pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle in Ladson.
The Graveside Service and Interment was at the Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive, North Charleston immediately after the funeral. The graveside service was conducted by Rev. G.L. Brown and Rev. Dave Harrison.
Mrs. Woods was born August 31, 1931 in Charleston,SC, one of two children of Theodore Roosevelt Blitch and Velma Ward Blitch. Eleanor was a graduate of North Charleston High School. She was a homemaker. Eleanor was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ladson.
Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Gerald Woods of Washington, DC and Fred Woods of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jamie Woods and his wife Sonya, and Velma Woods Wright and husband Antwan Wright, all of Goose Creek, SC; five great-grandchildren; Bryceten, Ethen, Malayna Woods and Chance and Legend Wright; and two nephews Paul Blitch of Atlanta and Darren Blitch of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy D. Woods and brother Ray Blitch.
