Eleanor Frances Van Ness Simons, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Theodore Jervey Simons, IV entered into life eternal in the early morning of Friday, September 22, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 pm until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Eleanor was born August 10, 1937 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Alston Legare Van Ness and Mae Clewis Van Ness. She attended the College of Charleston, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She was a member of the Junior League of Charleston, Christ Church, and St. Philip's Church.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Theodore Jervey Simons V; three daughters, Eleanor Legare Simons, Reid Simons Fulton, and Caroline Heyward Simons; her sister, Elizabeth Van Ness Toca; sister-in-law Caroline Simons Bonnoitt; granddaughters, Laura Fulton Stuart, Elizabeth Alston Simons, Taylor Simons Cardell, and Caroline Hunter Fulton; grandsons, Theodore Jervey Simons, VI and Douglas James Fulton, III; nephew, Emile Toca; great-grandchildren, Ian Perry Cardell, Aiden Keith Andrew Stuart, Graeme Cory Stuart, and Ellie Nicole Stuart; son-in-law, Douglas James Fulton, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McElveen Simons. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alston Legare Van Ness.
