Eleanor A. Michelet Mulbry of Charleston, SC formerly of Monte Sereno, CA, passed away at home after a brief illness, on Sunday, January 11, 2026. She was 95 years old and the beloved wife of the late Dr. Leonard Mulbry. She is survived by her loving children, Drs. Leonard William (Bill) and his wife Mary Decker of Charleston; Matthew and his wife Monique of Coburg, Oregon; Thomas and his wife Sheila of New Braunsfels, Texas; and Robert and his wife Ann of Pittsford, New York; as well as nine grandchildren, Reed and his wife Makenzie, Evan and his wife Jane Chen, William, Justin and his partner Linda Pena, James and his wife Elizabeth, Katie Cree and her husband Mason, Tricia and her partner Cameron Ero, Laura McClintock, Andrew and his wife Beth, and seven great grandchildren, Gregory, A.J., Ben, Minnie, Eleanor, Mavis, and Dexter.

Born April 19, 1931 Eleanor was the daughter of the late retired Naval Captain William and Mrs. Eleanor Michelet. Raised in a Naval military family, she was staunchly proud of her family’s service to this country. Eleanor’s greatest joy in life was her family and she dedicated herself to raising her four sons while Len earned his medical degree. Once her own children finished school, she returned herself to earn a degree in Psychology from San Jose State University. A life-long learner and avid reader, she loved a good book that explored the human psyche and spirit. Eleanor loved cooking and was a foodie before it was fashionable. She considered herself a Southern cook and was famous for her cornbread, Kentucky butter cake, bourbon balls, and loved a good crab boil. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether that was at their beach house on Monterey Bay, at the Los Gatos Art & Wine festival, or at a Stanford tailgate and football game where she would often be found knitting. She enjoyed the sewing arts and was accomplished at knitting, smocking, and quilting, making and gifting many garments, Christmas stockings, and quilts. As a volunteer, she put her talents to knitting caps for preemie babies at Los Gatos Hospital. Eleanor attended and was a member of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Monte Sereno, CA. Every day, living the values she also instilled in her sons, she was a kind, loving, honest, loyal, and thoughtful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed, but as one of her favorite philosopher’s, Winnie the Pooh, reminds us, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”

A service will be held on Friday, February 20th at 2pm at the Bishop Gadsden Chapel with a reception immediately following. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pet Helpers of Charleston would be appreciated.
