Eleanor Hope Moore, 75, of Mount Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 in St. Philip's Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Saint James Churchyard, James Island. The family will receive friends at the home of Louisa and Crayton Walters Thursday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Eleanor was born in Columbia, SC, the daughter of Robert Meek Hope, MD and Eleanor Whaley Rivers Hope. She graduated from Ashley Hall in 1956 and attended Hollins College in Salem, VA.Eleanor was a founding member of the Charleston Horticultural Society and Charleston Guide Service, serving as a tour guide for many years. She also volunteered as a hostess for the Historic Charleston Foundation and The Preservation Society of Charleston. She was a member of St. Philip's Church. Eleanor was appointed to the South Carolina Juvenile Justice System as a board member and worked with youth as a volunteer with the Family Court of Charleston. She also tutored children at Angel Oak School and Sisters of Charity on John's Island, SC.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Hope Geer Colyer, her husband Leigh Colyer, III of Charleston, SC and their sons, Leigh Colyer, IV, John Rivers Hope Colyer and William Benjamin Colyer; Sally Geer Lockett, her husband David Michael Lockett of Jacksonville, FL and their sons, Andrew Walker Lockett and Thomas Brooks Lockett; and Louisa Geer Walters, her husband, William Crayton Walters, III of Mount Pleasant, SC and their daughter Eleanor Hope Walters and son William Crayton Walters IV; and by her brother, John Rivers Hope of Wadmalaw Island, SC.
