Eldridge "Jerry" Jeremiah Holst, Jr., 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Gloria Richbourg Holst, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He will be honored at a memorial service held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
Jerry was born on June 27, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Eldridge Jeremiah Holst, Sr. and the late Mary Catherine Wallace Holst. He grew up in the Lowcountry, where he demonstrated a spirit of entrepreneurship and community service that would become hallmarks of his life. Jerry enjoyed a successful career as the owner of Rivers and Reynolds Liquors, and notably as a Past Exalted Ruler of the Charleston Elks Lodge 242.
Jerry's life was rich with love and family, and he is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Holst, of Mount Pleasant, SC. Together, they shared a strong partnership that was the foundation of their family. Jerry leaves behind three sons: Eldridge J."Jeremy" Holst III of Summerville, SC, Jamison F. Holst (Bridget) of McClellanville, SC, and Cameron W. Holst (Halley) of Johns Island, SC. His legacy continues through his seven beloved grandchildren: Eli Holst, Stella Holst, Jamison Holst, Ollie Holst, Riley Holst, Ronan Holst, and Wells Holst, who brought joy and pride to his life.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra H. Miles.
