Elaine Jean Bach Griffin, 93, of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, wife of Dr. E. David Griffin entered into eternal rest, Thursday, December 10, 2020, peacefully at home. Before moving to Kiawah Island, Elaine was a long-time resident of Joliet, Illinois where she raised her 5 children.
Elaine was born March 11, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Carl Henry Bach and Asta Hagelund Bach. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Elaine was a loving mother and wife, fondly remembered for her extraordinary sense of humor and laughter. She was very active in her community and served on many boards and volunteer groups. Elaine was instrumental in starting and running the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic in Joliet. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Joliet and later the Johns Island Presbyterian Church.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 70 years, David; as well as her children: Katherine Griffin, David Griffin (Ardath), Amy Griffin, Nancy Groch (Timothy) and Mark Griffin (Molly); and grandchildren: Evan Shulman (Alice Chen), Elise Shulman (Shelby Jones), Therese Griffin, Avery Griffin, Jackson Griffin, Eric Groch, Ryan Groch, Colin Griffin (Sophia), Aaron Griffin, Andrew Griffin and Kate Griffin. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl "Bud" Bach.
At this time, there are no funeral or memorial service scheduled. In lieu of flowers and donations, the family hopes you will raise a glass in her honor with a fun story.
