Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 9, 2012, Elaine Doris Dirzuweit Wiederhold, widow of Jessie Lee Wiederhold. Residence, Charleston, SC. All services will be private.
Mrs. Wiederhold was born September 16, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Herman August Dirzuweit and the late Myrtle Wilma Minna Haenseroth Dirzuweit. She was a retired Studies coordinator for Heart Study Trials under Dr. Gazes at MUSC.
After her marriage during World War II, Elaine and the family moved many times before settling in Charleston in 1967. She had a wonderful sense of adventure and responded to the challenges of life with enthusiasm, grace and humor. Elaine was dedicated to her family and community and volunteered with Make A Wish Foundation and MUSC. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls. While living in Japan during the Korean Conflict, she was a Gray Lady and afterwards continued her service as a Girl Scout Leader and PTA school parent. During her travels, she made many friends and had great adventures. Our mother was a remarkable lady, a good friend, a devoted mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Sears (Gary) of Newcastle, WA, Patricia "Patti" Holsclaw of Folly Beach, SC and Lynn Ann Wiederhold of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Alexandra (Sandy) Holsclaw Boton, David Lee Holsclaw, Randall "Randy" Sears, Richard "Rick" Sears, Michelle Middlebrook Hrudowsky and Douglas "Doug" Middlebrook; and seven great-grandchildren.
