Elaine Buckheister Baker, 90, of North Charleston, South Carolina, beloved wife of the late LeRoy Randolph Baker, Sr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Northwood Baptist Church, 2200 Greenridge Road, N. Charleston at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Northwood Baptist Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Elaine was born February 15, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Francis Buckheister and the late Annie Baumil Buckheister. She attended Chicora High School, was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, North Charleston, and was a past First Lady of Charleston Elks Lodge 242. She loved her grandchildren and was dearly loved by them. Her grandchildren said no one could make a grilled cheese sandwich as well as she did. Elaine was well known for the best red rice and spaghetti. Anyone who ever spoke of Elaine said she was the sweetest and kindest woman they had ever met.
She is survived by her children Cheryl Aden, Susan Zellmann, Deborah Simpson (Matt), and Roy Baker, Jr. (Kim); grandchildren Benjamin, Mark, Daniel, Amanda (Chris), Candice (Ryan), Kayla, Olivia, Rowan, Jacob, and Veronica; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Stephen Buckheister (Kathy); and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah, and siblings Beverly Koester, Billy Buckheister, and Ronald Buckheister.
Flowers will be accepted.
