Eftyhia was born in Charleston on May 4, 1922, to George C. and Helen N. Hitopoulos. Known by all as Tico, she graduated from Charleston's Memminger High School and was a 1947 graduate of The University of South Carolina. Tico was employed for nine years at Hagood, Rivers and Young law firm before she joined First Federal of Charleston Bank for 24 years. She served as a District Governor for the Daughters of Penelope from 1971-1972. In 1972, she found peace in the Lord and scripture quickly becoming extremely knowledgeable about the Bible and attended church services regularly. She even participated in a mission trip to the former U.S.S.R. spreading the word of God. In 1986, she retired in order to focus on her business which she managed until 2013. Over the course of many years Tico made numerous trips to Greece with her mother, sisters and nieces and alone where she very much enjoyed the simpler lifestyle there.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Frances H. Carroll (John) of Charleston; eight nieces and nephews from Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA; and ten grand nieces and nephews from Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA. She very much loved her family as they all loved her. Eftyhia is pre-deceased by her parents; sisters, Aphrodite G. Hitopoulos and Anna H. Waye; brothers, James Jimmy (Smene), Chris, Harry (Barbara) and Gregory; and her niece, Andrea E. Nassos.
