Edwin Horace "Ed" Salisbury, Sr., 93, of Holly Hill, South Carolina, widower of the late Iris Eleanor Shelton Salisbury went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2013. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4217 Rivers Avenue at 11:00 am . Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTH AREA CHAPEL.
"Ed" was born April 20, 1920 in Holly Hill, SC, son of the late Edward Lawton Salisbury and Margaret Walker Bogt Salisbury. He was a member and past president of the North Charleston Exchange Club. His love of the Lord directed him to be very active in the Gideon's International, Billy Graham Film Industry, and director of the Senior Adult Missionary for the Charleston Baptist Association for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Charleston for over 68 years where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Edwin was a prominent business man in North Charleston, the owner of Salisbury Auto Sales, serving the community for over 30 years. He was a successful real estate investor up until the time of his death. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII obtaining the rank of sergeant.
Edwin is survived by his sons, Edwin H. Salisbury, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Aiea, Hawaii, Thomas Salisbury and his wife, Terry of Bradenton, Florida, and Allen Salisbury of North Charleston, SC; two sisters, Margaret Turner of Orangeburg, SC, Adeline Ray and husband, John, also of Orangeburg, SC; four grandchildren, Troy Salisbury and his wife Jennifer, Jason Salisbury, Chris Salisbury and his wife Kristen, Brian Salisbury; two great-granddaughters, Caroline and Annabeth Salisbury. Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvah Salisbury and Harry Salisbury and one sister, Francis Fabian, wife of Claude Fabian.
Ed made everyone's life he touched better and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
