Entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 25, 2012, Edwin Bond Piedmont, widower of Joyce Evelyn Willingham Piedmont. Residence, Hanahan, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Liturgy, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel, Friday between 5:00 and 7:00 PM.
Mr. Piedmont was born January 8, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Joseph Piedmont and Estelle Bond Piedmont. He was a graduate of Chicora High School and The University of South Carolina. Following USC graduation, Edwin served with the United States Army. He retired from Westvaco after 46 years of service. Edwin was a member of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, the Charleston Elks Lodge #242, The Charleston Rifle Club, and was an avid golfer with Yeamans Hall Summer Golfers. He was an active volunteer with the Friends of the Dock Street Theatre, Spoleto, and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Edwin participated in several television commercials and was an Extra in many locally filmed movies.
He is survived by his daughter: Pattie P. Croffead and her husband Tommy; one brother: Robert Piedmont and his wife Gail; one granddaughter: Christy Schachte and her husband David; two great-grandsons: Gunnar and Liam Schachte, all of Charleston, SC; many nieces and nephews and his Soulmate, Frances Owens Ehni. Edwin was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph A. Piedmont, Jr, Paul M. Piedmont and a sister Geraldine P. Spencer.
