Edwin William Fink

Edwin William Fink, 92, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Villanova, PA, husband of Betty Barbara Briskin Fink died Wednesday, August 14, 2013. A private Graveside Service will be held Friday, August, 16, 2013 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Mount Pleasant. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Edwin was born on December 27, 1920 in Hudson, New York. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp in 1940 and served as a Radioman and Gunner on the B-25's in New Guinea. He left active duty as a Second Lieutenant and retired from the United States Army Reserve. Edwin graduated from Clarkson University in 1948 and accepted a position with Bendix Corporation. He later became employed by Westinghouse and worked on the development of the first atomic submarine. Edwin later did graduate study at Columbia University in New York City and became employed by Fairchild-Hiller in the space program. From Fairchild-Hiller, Edwin accepted a position with General Electric in their NASA Space Industry program and retired from Westinghouse as a Systems Engineer. Following retirement, Edwin participated in the "Industry Goes to the Classroom" program at Westchester University, where his industry experience enabled him to teach at the college level. Additionally, Edwin served as an adjunct professor for Delaware County Community College where he later became a college administrator. Edwin was an avid reader, had a love for gardening and classical music.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Barbara Fink of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sons, Gary Fink, M.D. and his wife, Ann, of Isle Of Palms, SC and Kenneth Fink; one sister, Betty Richter of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Fink, Michael Fink, David Fink, Josh Fink; niece, Carol Richter of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three nephews, Dr. Alan Richter (Lois) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Dr. Barry & Dr. Joan Richter of Guilford, CT and Stephen Fink (Judy) of Ft. Lauderdale. Edwin was predeceased by a brother Melvin Fink.
