Edwin "Bobby" Irving Burn, 95, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widower of Emily Lucas Burn, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 14, 2021. A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 3:00 pm, in Magnolia Cemetery, 70 Cunnington Ave, Charleston, 20405. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Bobby was born April 26, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Elmo McKinley Burn and the late Ethel Stall Burn. He was a 1943 graduate of the High School of Charleston. Bobby began working for the US Postal Service at age 17 and retired in 1993. He served in the US Army.
Bobby was a capable and good man. He had also been a good husband to "Emmie" and a loving son-in-law to "Mrs. Lucas". He preferred his independence, well-reasoned routines and managing the tasks of life. He enjoyed his home and dock on the harbor and in the past, going fishing with his brother on the weekends. He was known for his shrimp salad and he enjoyed good food. He was much loved by his family. neighbors and friends. Bobby will be remembered for detailed stories and interesting conversations at his kitchen table. He always said "thank you" and expressed deep appreciation for anything anyone did for him.
He is survived by sisters-in-law, Jeanette Burn of Sarasota, FL, Helen Burn of York, SC; nephews, Elmo McKinley Burn, Jr. (Gail) of Summerville, SC, Robert Lockwood Burn (Beverly) of Sarasota, FL, Kinard Fennell of Rockingham, NC, Joseph Carter Lucas (Margie) of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces, Jennifer Fennell of Anderson, SC, Rebecca Fennell Paul (David) of Johns Creek, GA, Debora Burn Hutchins (Jack) of Clover, SC, Melanie Burn Radkin (Curt); cousins, Jane Royall (John), John Royall, Jr. (Julia), Robert Royall (Patti), Laura Thornton, Julia Royall (Brian), Anne Royall, Mary Scheper (Fred), Susan Van Zile (David), Thomas Horton (Sandy).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Emily DuPre Lucas Burn; sisters, Alma Louise Burn, Elizabeth "Bette" Burn Fennell; brothers, Elmo McKinley Burn and John Henry Burn.
