Edward Maurice Whitfield

Edward Maurice Whitfield, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Kathy Wagster Whitfield passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014. A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.

Ed was born December 4, 1932 in Townville, South Carolina, son of the late Carodine N. Whitfield and Lois Bright Whitfield. A veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, he was the owner of Whitfield Martinizing Dry Cleaners. A devoted family man, he enjoyed fishing, reading, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wagster Whitfield; his children, Debby Franklin and her husband, Dave of Anderson, SC, Karen Griffin of Anderson, SC, Cindy Whitfield of Anderson, SC, Jay Deason and his wife, Misty of Greenville, SC; his brothers and sisters, Floyd Whitfield and his wife, Shirley of Charleston, SC, Jean Burton and her husband, Lee of Greenwood, SC, Nita Jordan and her husband, Charles of Avon Park, FL, and David Whitfield of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Whitfield of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
