Edward Franklin Spivey, Sr.

Edward Franklin Spivey, Sr., 97, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest Friday, January 20, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Carolina Memorial Gardens following the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.

Edward was born December 29, 1925 in Conway, South Carolina, son of the late Walter Riley Spivey and Pearl Spivey. He was a Department Head for Beaufort Technical College. Edward was a devoted Christian to his Lord Jesus Christ. As a veteran of the United States Navy with a distinguished career he served proudly in WWII. Along with serving his country with love he always had a profound love for his family, especially his beloved late wife Leonora. Edward will always be remembered as a loving Father, Grandfather and friend. His family would like to extend many thanks and gratitude to the VA Home Health team, the VA Hospice Unit and the staff of Indigo Hall for all of their care and devotion shown toward Edward. 

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Jones; two grandsons; Blue Spivey (Tami) and Brett Spivey (Meagan), one granddaughter, April Spivey, five great-grandchildren; Alexis Spivey, Aiden Spivey, Ashton Coker, Sally Spivey and Nora Spivey. Connie Booth, "Krispi" Mitchum and Kevin Bresnihan are a few among many great friends. Along with his parents and wife Leonora Spivey, Edward is predeceased by his son Edward Franklin Spivey, Jr.
