Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August 13, 2011, Edward Anderson Scarpa, Jr., husband of Carolyn Farmer Scarpa. Residence, Sullivans Island, SC. Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Scarpa, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in the First Baptist Church of Charleston Monday, August 15, 2011, at 11:00 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Sunday between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
Ed was born December 10, 1935 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Edward Anderson Scarpa, Sr. and the late Dorothy Mary Cottingham Scarpa. He graduated from the High School of Charleston and received a ceramic engineering degree from Clemson University, where he was captain of the tennis team for four years. He was the owner of Momeier Electric Company, a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of Sullivans Island; a son, Edward A. Scarpa, III (Catherine) of Sullivans Island; two daughters, Celeste S. Dean (Raymond) of Vero Beach, FL and Alyse S. Cox (Stanley) of Hanahan; seven grandchildren, Chanler, Evan, Anderson, Cameron, Gareth, Rhiannon and Natalie; two sisters, Jane S. Hamrick of Charleston and Dorothy S. Fitzhenry (Mike) of Summerville; and a brother, Paul E. Scarpa (Sandra) of Travelers Rest, SC.
