Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of February 6, 2011, Edward Screven Porcher, widower of Katherine "Kitty" Beckett Porcher. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the graveside in Beaufort National Cemetery, Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:00 am.
Mr. Porcher was born September 29, 1918 in Charleston, SC, the son of Edward P. Porcher and Marie Broughton Screven Porcher. He served with the United States Army during World War II and was a veteran of the North Africa Champaign, invasion of Europe and The Battle of The Bulge. Ed was a member of James Island Presbyterian Church. Mr. Porcher retired as a Draftsman with the Charleston Navy Shipyard.
He is survived by three brothers: George L. Porcher, Joel P. Porcher (Mary), William Porcher (Frances) all of Charleston, SC, and a very special friend Col. Robert Welch, USAF, Ret.). Mr. Porcher was predeceased by his brother, Lt. Proctor Screven Porcher.
