Cdr. Edward Fischer Kornahrens, Jr., USN (Ret.) 81, of Johns Island, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Ann Hernandez Kornahrens entered peacefully into eternal rest in his home with his family at his side Sunday, November 15, 2015 after bravely battling Parkinson's Disease for 30 years. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 in Faith Lutheran Church, 3374 Maybank Highway at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in Faith Lutheran Church Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Edward was born July 8, 1934 in Summerville, SC, son of the late Edward F. Kornahrens, Sr., and Pauline Ballentine Kornahrens. Edward was a Professional and Industrial Engineer who graduated from Georgia Tech. He was a retired Commander with the United States Navy Reserve. He was a Facilities Engineer with the Genuine Parts Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Edward was a former Eagle Scout, former member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Summerville, and member of Faith Lutheran Church, Johns Island.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Kornahrens of Johns Island, SC; daughter, Teryl "Teri" Kornahrens Bedenbaugh (Timothy) of Prosperity, SC; two sons, Scott Edward Kornahrens (Amy) of Valley Center, KS, and Todd Fischer Kornahrens of Philadelphia, PA, brother, Byrle Kornahrens of Summerville, SC; sister, Paula K. Kilpatrick of Mt. Pleasant, SC; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Edward is preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Donovan Kornahrens.
