Edward Lars Hubbard

Edward Lars Hubbard, 93, retired naval officer and teacher, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Ina Hubbard entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

He was born May 16, 1920 in Barbourville, Kentucky, son of the late Edward and Mollie Hawn Hubbard. A graduate of Union College, Mr. Hubbard did post-graduate work at Northwestern University. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and taught English at Moultrie High School and Porter-Gaud School.

He is survived by his children, Margaret "Margie" Hubbard Pipes and her husband, Larry S. Pipes of the Isle of Palms, SC, Kathleen Hubbard Stelling and her husband, James M. Stelling of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Edward Lars Hubbard, Jr. and his wife, JoAnne L. Hubbard of Irmo, SC, and Robert James Hubbard of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his grandchildren, Kathleen S. Hodgson and her husband, Joseph M. Hodgson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Rachel C. Burris of Charleston, SC, Edward Hubbard III, Jason Hubbard, and Joseph Hubbard of Irmo, SC, Robert J. Hubbard, Jr. and Richard Lars Hubbard of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Stephen Pipes of the Isle of Palms, SC. He was preceded in death by Ina, his loving wife of 65 years.
