Edward Marion Howard, Sr., 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Alma Thompson Howard died Sunday, April 15, 2018. His graveside service will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 in Carolina Memorial Gardens at 1:30pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. Mount Pleasant CHAPEL.
Edward was born December 24, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Melvin Edward Howard and Mildred Clementine Kinard. He was the retired owner of Howard and Howard Heating and Air in Mt. Pleasant as well as Vice President of Gamewell Mechanical of Salisbury, NC. Eddie completed Murray Vocational High School, Carrier Engineering Training, and was a graduate of North Carolina State University. He was past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of SC, served on the Board of Trustees of Rowan Technical Institute, and was a life member of ASHRAE. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and proudly served in the SC National Guard. He was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Salisbury, NC. He enjoyed the game of golf and had a great love for inshore and offshore fishing in the lowcountry.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alma Thompson Howard of Mt. Pleasant, SC, his daughter, Pamela Howard Smith (Charlie) of Salisbury, NC; two sons, Edward Marion Howard, Jr., (Mary Thodosoff), and Eric Patrick Howard; all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two granddaughters, Charlotte Smith Staton (Will) Huntersville, NC; Caroline Howard Smith of Charlotte, NC, and grandson, Edward Marion Howard, III of Mt. Pleasant, SC.; two sisters, Shirley Howard Trainor (Joe) of North Charleston, SC, and Janice Howard Pye (Rodney) of North Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Daniel Howard.
