Edward Harden Dopson, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Joyce Carter Dopson died Friday, March 30, 2018. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 4:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until time of the service.
Ed was born October 31, 1949 in Walterboro, South Carolina, son of Herman Harden Dopson and Mary Breland Dopson. He was a Supervisor for K-Con, Inc., a commercial construction company. In his retirement, Ed worked with his daughter Marisa and son-in-law Steve at TowBoat US Charleston. He served in the Naval Reserve during Vietnam on the NATO fleet and was also in the National Guard. He was a graduate of Walterboro High School and attended Baptist College (now Charleston Southern University). He enjoyed spending time on the water and especially being with his granddaughters. He was also an animal lover, particularly of cats and dogs.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; two daughters, Emily Christine Vorhis (Kyle) of Ladson, SC, Marisa Arden Little (Steve) of Isle Of Palms, SC; sister, Cathy Williams of Yemassee, SC; two brothers, Michael Dopson of Yemassee, SC, Craig Dopson of Yemassee, SC; and two granddaughters, Kaylyn Vorhis and Peyton Little.
