Edward E. Creese, 86, of North Charleston, SC, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, in a local nursing facility surrounded by his family.
Born February 11, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the eldest of seven children of Edward E. and Julia Creese. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He retired from the Charleston County School District having worked in the maintenance department. He and his wife of 68 years, Melva Cox Creese, raised nine children. Ed was a hard worker and devoted husband and father. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Mr. Creese is survived by his daughters: Diane Hines of AL, Julie Jones and her husband Howard of North Augusta, SC, Carol Harris and her husband Carey of Huntsville, AL and Tammy Nelson and her husband Billy of North Charleston, SC; sons, Eddie Creese and his wife Diane of Pittsburgh, PA and Robert James Creese and his wife Karen of Charlotte, NC; sisters: Dorothy, Eleanor, Muriel and Myrna; brother, Jack Creese; and many nieces and nephews all of the Pittsburgh area; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Cox Creese; sons, Jimmy Creese and Raymond Creese; daughter, Janet Creese; sister, Betty; and son-in-law, Johnny Hines.
The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Interment with military honors will follow at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Wednesday, July 27, 2011 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
