Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 22, 2012, Edward Leon Chaplin, Sr., 73, of Charleston, husband of Ann Reid Chaplin. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Leon Chaplin, Sr. are invited to attend his funeral service Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at J.HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Wednesday from 2:00 pm until time of service.
Mr. Chaplin was born on April 8, 1938 in Charleston, SC. He was the son of the late Julian Roosevelt Chaplin and Julia Postell Chaplin. He was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a retired Supervisor with the Repair and Conversion Department at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Following his retirement, he opened and operated Chaplin Farm Machinery in Walterboro, SC.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Chaplin of Charleston; two sons; Ed Chaplin, Jr. of Lockport, New York and David (Stacy) Chaplin of Walterboro; a daughter, Sarah Slade (Billy Thigpen) of Summerville; a brother, Glenn (Betty) Chaplin of Ravenel; a sister-in-law, Joyce (Bill) Skinner of Sumter, SC; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Allison, Madison, and Joshua; and a great grandson, Riddick.
Family will accept flowers or memorials to a charity of one's choice.
