Edna J. Thames, 86, of Awendaw, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Wilson Cemetery in Awendaw, SC. The family will receive friends Friday, April 3, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Edna was born August 20, 1939 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Maynard C. Jackson and Ellen Morris Jackson. Edna enjoyed playing card games and dominos. She was also a member of a gospel group with her siblings called the Dedications.
She is survived by her children: Kevin Thames (Amy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Donna Fischer (Otis) of Awendaw; six grandchildren: Robbie Fischer (Sarah), Brianne Sanders (Matt), Tyler Thames (Christy), Bailey Turnage (Steven), Brenna Thames (Zac), and Russ Thames (Charles); great-grandchildren: Gabby, Abi, Lyla, Jackson, Christian, Weston, Zeke, and Rory; daughter-in-law, Jackie Thames of Awendaw; sister, Frances White (Elbert) of SC; and many loved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Marvin Thames Jr.; siblings: Joan Thames and Bill Jackson.; and former husband, Marvin Thames, Sr.
The family kindly requests that any floral arrangements be sent in vases or plants so they can donate them to the assisted living their mother lived in or memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet Pentecostal Holiness Church, 8469 Doar Rd., Awendaw, SC 29429.
