Edna Mae Tant, 97, of Hanahan, SC, formerly of the Elms of North Charleston died Thursday, October 25, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Stuhr's Funeral Chapel.
Ms. Tant was born March 22, 1915 in the township of Sycamore, SC a daughter of the late John H. Croft and the late Agnes Bradham Croft. She worked for Manhattan Shirt Company and later as an inspector she retired from Levi Strauss Company. She was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church and the Dorcus Bible School Class. She also attended Chapel at the Elms until her health began to fail. Ms. Tant was a past member of Memminger Hall Garden Club.
She is survived by her son, Wallace O. "Buddy" Tant and his wife Bettie of Hanahan, SC; one sister, Bronell C. Cash of Columbia, SC; one grandchild, Bonnie Brown of Selinsgrove, PA; one step-grandson, Gene McCarn of Ludowici, GA; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Agnes Elizabeth Tant; and two sons, Robert Alton Tant and Rupert Seth Tant, her brother Jack C. Croft; and sisters: Essie Lou Ulmer, Ruth C. Bowdoin, Madeline C. Jackson and Jeannette C. Corley.
