Elizabeth Foster Tammenga, 88, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, widow of Col. Henry Lubertus Tammenga entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2019 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc. from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Requiem Mass will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will be Monday, May 6, 2019 in Beaufort National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.

Elizabeth was born May 20, 1930 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late James Poyas Foster and Edna Peeler Foster. She was retired from Charleston Speech and Hearing. She was a member of the Huguenot Society. Elizabeth was a member of the Church of the Holy Communion and their altar guild.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth B. Hanckel of Glenwood Springs, CO; sons: John M. Hanckel (Rebecca) of Summerville, SC and Marion J. "Jay" Hanckel, Jr. of Charleston, SC; sister, Mary F. Davis of Guntersville, AL; and three grandchildren: Ellen Foster Hanckel, Charles Poyas Hanckel and Marion J. Hanckel III.
