Edith Joyce Gosnell Wingo, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Thomas Davis Wingo entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 5, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday January 10, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m until the time of service. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Edith was born August 8, 1926 in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Roy Elmer Collins and Jewel Lee Sheriff Collins. She was a member of Living Fountain Church. For the past eight and one half years she has been a resident of Sandpiper Courtyard. Thank you to all who lovingly cared for her. A special thanks to Care for Life, Inc.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne G. Helms of Ladson, SC; two sons, Wayne K. Gosnell (Martha) of Charleston, SC, James M. "Mickey" Gosnell of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sisters, Patricia Black of Charlotte, NC, Faith Ruby of Akron, OH; two brothers, Michael Collins of Charlotte, NC, Patrick Collins of Birmingham, AL; three step-children, Andy Wingo of Charlotte, NC, John Wingo of Summerville, SC, and Sharon Emery of North Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Sarah Gosnell Handshoe, Charles McClure, Jennifer Jackman, and great-grandchild, Allen Jackman. Edith was predeceased by a grandchild, Eryan Martha Gosnell, two brothers, Wesley A. Collins, Daniel C. Collins and his wife Ella Collins.
