Edith Thomas Parker of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Samuel Bruce Parker, Sr., entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 9, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2012, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
Edith was born August 13, 1923, in Polkton, North Carolina, daughter of the late Columbus Claude Thomas and Lessie Taylor Thomas. She was a devoted wife of 67 years, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Edith was very active in her church and especially enjoyed participating in the music ministry. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she was an expert tailor working with several retailers before opening her home-based alteration business.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole P. Albrecht (Charlie) of Mount Pleasant, SC; her son, S. B. "Sonny" Parker, Jr. (Allie) of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, S. B. "Tripp" Parker, III (Mary) and Ashley P. Lance (Brad); and four great-grandchildren, Brice, Sarah, and Jacob Parker, and Parker Lance. She is also survived by two sisters, Beuna Thomas Yost and Joyce Thomas Roszack; three brothers, S. J., Herbert, and Billy Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
