Edith "Mae" Born, 94, of Charleston, SC, passed away on February 7, 2012. Formerly of Williamsport, PA, Mrs. Born was born on June 27, 1917, a daughter of Charles and Wilhelmina Knoop Shultz. Mrs. Born was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles R. Shultz and two sisters, Dorothy E. Shultz and Anna Mary Sullivan. "Mae" was a life-long member of the Church of the Savior Lutheran, where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and member of various committees. As an officer and member of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Born organized and assisted with several charitable projects and events in the Williamsport area. She graduated from Williamsport High School, class of 1935, and her career as a salesperson and bridal consultant spanned many years. In 1979, Mae moved to Charleston, SC to be close to her daughters and grandchildren.
Mrs. Born is survived by two daughters, Dee Lesko (husband Michael) of Summerville and Patricia Bower of Charleston; three grandchildren, Kimberly Lesko Steele (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC, Benjamin D. Bower (Melissa), of Atlanta, GA and Rebeccah L. Bower (Rudi) of Atlanta, GA and two great grandchildren, Morgan E. Steele of Charlotte and Maxwell D. Bower of Atlanta.
Relatives and friends of Edith "Mae" Born are invited to attend her Memorial Service at J. HENRY STUHR WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Friday, February 10, 2012, at 2:00 pm. Family will greet friends immediately following the Memorial Service. A private burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, PA.
