Eddie Jack Rutledge Hunt, 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Alysia "Susie" Arthureen Ellis Hunt entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 26, 2017. The family will receive friends Sunday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 in Epworth United Methodist Church, 1540 Camp Road at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Jack was born October 30, 1939 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Lee Vernon Hunt and Mae Belle Money Hunt.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Jack was an honorary member of Masonic Lodge 396 and paraded for many a year as a Keystone Kop with the Shriners for the Shriners' Hospital for Children. He was a plumber/pipefitter by trade in his younger years and retired as a Nuclear Engineering Technician with the Naval Shipyard. Jack was a member of the Senior Center on James Island and VFW Post 445. He loved to travel and enjoyed his second home in the mountains of Hendersonville NC which he filled with family and friends. Jack was a poet and published his book "Poems about Charleston --- and other stuff".
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susie; two sons: Jack Randall Hunt (Susan) of Charleston and Michael Christopher Hunt (Brandy) of Charleston; a daughter Sandra Hunt Woods (Scott) of Charleston; and eight grandchildren of whom he was IMMENSELY proud.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Benny Lee Hunt (Mary Jo) and his sister, Grace Levine "Mary" Hunt.
