Earl Francis Fisher

January 23, 1930 — March 4, 2013

Earl F. Fisher, Jr., 83, passed away March 4, 2013 at Roper Hospital. A memorial service with military honors will be held, Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service.

He will be missed more than words can describe by his wife, Hoyland L. Fisher, two sons, Earl F. Fisher, III and Marc Alan Fisher and one granddaughter, Isabella Sophia Fisher. Also he has two sisters, Carolyn Fisher Grey of Carson City, NV and Rosemary Fisher Hershkorn of Albuquerque, NM plus nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Earl was Catholic and attended Divine Redeemer.Earl's parents were Earl F. Fisher, Sr. and Rose Giallela Fisher. His father accepted a job with Bell Helicopter and the family moved from Buffalo to the Mojave Desert near the present Edwards AFB when he was a young boy. He attended junior and senior high schools and college in the area. This location continued to increase his love of the aviation industry.

Earl was an aviator who enjoyed all aspects of aviation. He was certified as a private as well as a commercial pilot. He logged many hours on single engine airplanes. He worked for Hughes Aircraft Company in Field Engineering in CA, a sales pilot for Hawthorne Aviation and retired from RCC Communications as a sales representative for the military. He served on the Berkeley County Aeronautics Commission from 1986 to the time of his death and was Chairman for many years. His main focus was to improve the airport to accommodate more business aircraft and he worked tirelessly to meet that objective.

He started and served as a member of the Experimental Aeronautics Association (EAA), Chapter 477.

Earl also was an advocate for the special needs population that includes his son, Earl, trying to improve their life style and expose them to as many real life experiences as possible.
