Dwight Herbert Stuckey

June 20, 1937 — January 23, 2012

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 23, 2012, Dwight Herbert Stuckey, husband of Genelle Carpenter Stuckey. Residence, Hanahan, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Herbert Stuckey are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Friday, January 27, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel from11:00 am until time of service.

Mr. Stuckey was born June 20, 1937 in Sumter, South Carolina, the son of Dwight Charles Stuckey and LaRae Carter Stuckey. He was a graduate of Charleston High School, Class of 1955 and attended Spartanburg Junior College, University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Florida. He was a free lance writer and authored stories about The Morgan Dollar (a US dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1921), The Doolittle Raiders, U.S.S. Stewart and he wrote a book entitled The Counterfeit 1944 Jefferson Nickel. He was a military historian and former school teacher. He was a member of Friends of "Aces", the Sons of Confederacy, and The Lowcountry Coin Club. Mr. Stuckey served as Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Naval Weapons Station as a Security Dispatcher.

He is survived by his wife Genelle of 34 years of Hanahan, SC; his daughter: Ellen RaeChelle Stuckey Woods (Michael) of Robbinsville, NC; two grandchildren: Chantilly Woods Welch (Hunter) and Allison Woods both of Robbinsville, NC; two great grandsons: Duke Welch and Kamerin Woods of Robbinsville, NC; one great granddaughter: Tiara Welch of Robbinsville, NC. He is predeceased by one son, Dwight Charles Stuckey.
