Dwayne T. Rice, 65, of Johns Island, South Carolina, entered eternal rest Friday, June 28, 2024. His memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the James Island Masonic Lodge, 1613 Fort Johnson Rd, James Island, SC 29412 at 1:00. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. 

Dwayne was born March 2, 1959 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, son of proud Marines, the late Willis John “Johnny” Rice and the late Lois Colleen Sage. Dwayne grew up in Pequea, PA where he enjoyed fishing and playing along the creek. He went to Penn Manor High School and then joined the Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Dwayne married and raised 2 children, a son Jeremy and a daughter Ashley. Dwayne moved his family to Charleston in 1990 where he worked as a General Contractor for many years. In his spare time, Dwayne loved to ride motorcycles, build and drive fast cars, and go to garage sales. Dwayne loved to spend time on the track with his son Jeremy, whether it be in cars or on bikes. He also loved teaching his children and grandchildren about mechanics and construction. Dwayne passed down his passion for speed, classic cars, and 80’s rock to his children and grandchildren who will continue to pass it down for generations to come. Dwayne will always be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality and his big heart and he will never be forgotten. 

He is survived by daughter, Ashley Rice (Benjamin Pope) of Summerville, SC; grandchildren Charlotte Mizner and a grandson on the way who are the children of Ashley; Hannah Rice (Tylor Spano) of Moncks Corner, Kendall Rice (Johnathan Donovan) of Moncks Corner, Kylie Rice (Brock Glover) of Moncks Corner, Mallory Rice of Moncks Corner, Tyler Rice of Walterboro and Hunter Rice of Walterboro are all children of the late Jeremy Rice; great grandchildren: Valerie Donovan (Kendall) and SawyerRey Spano (Hannah); sibling Doug Rice (Rita) of Marietta and Darren Sage of PA; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son Jeremy Rice.
