Dudley Barber, 86, of Mt.Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Lois Jane Barber passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Barber was born January 15, 1927 in Aspen Hill, Tennessee, son of the late Maybon and Lerlene Petty Barber. A veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he was a Office Manager Specialist at the Pentagon in Washington, DC and various other government agencies for 33 years. He was awarded various Civil Service awards for his dedication and distinguished service to the Federal Government. He was well loved by his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Fairlington Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, VA where he resided for many years.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to everyone at Sandpiper Rehab and Nursing who have loved and cared for him for many years, as well as the many friendships he developed while there.
He is survived by his son, Robert Barber and his wife, Mary of Florence, SC; his two grandsons, Harrison Barber and Chandler Barber, both of Florence, SC; two sisters, Charlotte Barber of Clearwater, FL and Maylene Long and her husband, Van of Punta Gorda, FL; his niece, Belinda Long Moore and her husband, Robert Michael of Punta Gorda, FL; and his nephew, Steven Forest Barber and his wife, Stephanie of Brentwood, TN. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles.
